The easy-care blue fescue grass is a low ornamental grass with intensely blue leaf color. It grows up to 40 cm high and is well suited for rock gardens, borders, container plantings or for planting in cemeteries.
The stalks are very fine and point out in all directions. The blue fescue blooms in May and June and shows airy yellowish panicles that underline the blue color of the foliage.
This ornamental grass prefers to be in the sun and it likes a well-drained, even stony ground. Lean and dry soils are ideal for blue fescue, which is why they are often planted on slopes or on dry surfaces.
Basically: the barren the soil, the more intense the blue color. Waterlogging is not tolerated. Especially in winter it is important that precipitation can drain off well.
