Timeless, hardy classic - Buxus sempervirens
Buxus sempervirens, also known as boxwood, is a versatile, evergreen shrub that has been prized for centuries for its dense, compact growth habit. With its lush green, glossy leaves, it is ideal for shapely hedges, artistic topiary or stylish accents in borders and planters.
The boxwood is hardy and remains an attractive eye-catcher even in the colder months. It prefers sunny to semi-shady locations and grows in well-drained, humus-rich soil. Thanks to its slow growth rate and low maintenance requirements, it is particularly long-lived and easy to care for. Regular pruning between May and September promotes dense, uniform growth.
