Waldsteinia ternata, also known as carpet strawberry, is an evergreen, hardy perennial that is particularly suitable as ground cover. It belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae) and originally comes from the mountainous regions of Eastern Europe and Asia.
The plant is characterized by its dense, carpet-like growth forms, which makes it ideal for large areas and shady locations. Its glossy, dark green leaves remain all year round. The woodland stonecrop is particularly attractive in spring, when it produces bright yellow, star-shaped flowers from April to May.
Easy to care for and robust, Waldsteinia ternata thrives best in humus-rich, moist soil. It is hardy and requires little care, making it a popular choice for gardens and parks. Once established, it effectively prevents the growth of weeds and gives gardens a natural, lush green.
