Dense growing, hardy ground cover - Cornus canadensis
Cornus canadensis, also known as Canadian dogwood or carpet dogwood, is an impressive, low-growing ground cover plant that creates an elegant effect with its glossy green leaves and striking white flowers. In late summer, the flowers develop into decorative red berries that attract birds.
This hardy ground cover thrives particularly well in shady to semi-shady areas and prefers humus-rich, evenly moist soil. Thanks to its dense growth, it forms a lush, green carpet that suppresses weeds and creates a natural garden atmosphere. It also attracts bees and butterflies, thus enhancing the ecological value of the garden. Cornus canadensis is wintergreen, which means it provides an attractive structure even in the colder months.
