Elegant, hardy ornamental grass - Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster'
Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Karl Foerster', also known as riding grass or sand reed, is an impressive, upright-growing ornamental grass that provides structure and movement in the garden with its airy growth habit and fine, dark green foliage. From summer onwards, purple-brown flower panicles appear, which turn golden yellow over the course of the season and remain attractive well into the winter.
Riding grass is hardy and thrives in full sun to partial shade in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. It is extremely easy to care for and adaptable to different locations. Its tight, upright growth makes it ideal as an eye-catcher, for mixed borders or as a privacy screen. Pruning in late winter or early spring promotes vigorous new growth.
