Elegant, hardy steppe sage - Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna'
Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna', also known as ornamental sage or steppe sage, is a particularly elegant hardy perennial that creates a special contrast in the garden with its deep purple flower candles and almost black stems. Its long flowering period from June to September makes it a valuable bee and butterfly plant that brings life and color to natural gardens.
Salvia 'Caradonna' is drought tolerant and thrives best in full sun in well-drained, rather dry soil. It is extremely easy to care for and is ideal for sunny borders, rock gardens or as an accent plant in combination with other perennials. Pruning after the first flowering promotes a second flowering phase and keeps the plant compact and vital.
