Tips for growing the tomato and potato plant
Transplant the Potatom into a large pot after purchase or – preferably - straight into the ground. The plant is suitable for the vegetable garden as well as for small greenhouses. Support the plant with a stake or small trellis and tie it to the wire. Pinch the tomato plant and remove aboveground potato shoots. Is the Potatom in a small greenhouse? Then periodically tap the branch or inflorescence to stimulate pollination. After 8 to 10 weeks you can harvest the first tomatoes!
Harvesting tomatoes and digging up potatoes
The Potatom produces about 80 - 100 cocktail tomatoes. The cocktail tomatoes are aromatic, healthy and have a firm bite. At the end of the season, when all the tomatoes have been picked, cut off the stalk and leave the plant alone for a couple of weeks. This allows the potatoes to ripen well in the ground. After 10 to 14 days, clearing can begin. Carefully dig up the ground and discover the ultimate reward. In fact, you can grub up 2 to 3 kg of potatoes! The potatoes are waxy yellow potatoes of small to medium size and good in taste. Bon appetit!
